SCORCHED EARTH

Memorable
Sherman's March to the Sea in the Civil War,
Carson's subjugation of the Navajo,
Lord Kitchener's advance against the Boers,
and the burning of hundreds of oil wells by
retreating Iraqi forces in the Gulf War.

Notable
Muscovy during the failed Swedish invasion,
Muscovy during the failed Napoleonic invasion,
Soviet Muscovy's retreat under Joseph Stalin
during the German invasion in WWII,
and Germany's retreat from the Eastern Front.

Futile
Not having scorched enough earth
in the last three centuries,
(mainly in Ukraine),
muscovy once again torches us.
This time it's Bakhmut,
already rubble and stubble,
in the vain hope
that we
will
give up.
