Killer snow

Snow is as snow does.
Two days of chilly snow
starting only slowly to melt,
slamming from the roof
to the ground, scaring me,
but likely scaring
all the blooming daffodils,
the blades of irises,
the rising peony buds
the burgeoning rose leaves,
the cherry and chestnut buds,
the greening chrysanthemums
even more.
